Dolphin Play is a form of dance/acrobatics/yoga under water. (Think of underwater contact improv.) Wearing nose plugs and goggles, the participants co-create the dance. Imagine spinning and twirling or just being underwater until you come up for air.
It is the most amazing, healthy and fun form of exercise. Since the impact of gravity is reduced, one can do many of the yoga postures that are difficult to achieve on land. This delightful form enhances lung capacity and is a great breathwork exercise in action. Finally, the interaction/play with other humans (becoming dolphins after a while) makes it super fun!
Required equipment: Swim goggles and nose clips (bring your own or rent from us) and swimsuit bottoms. If you wish to rent goggles and/or clips from us, please say so when you register with us.
You may choose to join us after our Dolphin Play for an optional pot luck.
If continuing the gentle flowing and fun in the water is your idea of a great way to spend Saturday night as well, you might wish to also join us for our WaterPlay and Heartful Connections and Potluck for Couples and Paired Singles later that evening. The Dolpin Play and WaterPlay potlucks are one and the same. Pre-Registration for WaterPlay is encouraged. Deciding to register last-minute, on-site for WaterPlay will be considered on a space-available basis only. Please note that most of our WaterPlay evenings sell out in advance.
What to Bring to Dolphin Play:
• Swimwear (bottomwear required; tops optional)
• Swim goggles — bring your own or rent for $2
• Nose clips — bring your own or rent for $1
• Robe
• 2 towels
• Flip-flops or other appropriate-for-water footwear
• Water bottle (metal or plastic only — no glass by the pool)
• Potluck dish — enough for 4 to 6 people if you choose to stay for the potluck
• Non-alcoholic beverages (if you are bringing beverages to share)
• For everyone's comfort and safety, this is a substance-free event
