Compassionate Communication can help you have more love in your life and be more centered when facing challenging situations. Using role-plays of conflicts — pre-planned as well as suggested by the audience — we will show you how to:
• Communicate your needs to someone so you can be more easily heard and understood;
Help another person to verbalize their underlying needs to be fully heard and understood, so that,
• You can both more easily come to a win-win result.

We always offer audience members an opportunity to present situations for role-play, from their own lives and currently "alive" for them. This is completely voluntary. When an audience member chooses to present a situation s/he may choose to either play one of the roles her/himself, or s/he may ask the facilitators or other participants to act it out for them to watch and gain insight. Others may just want to observe. There's no pressure to actively particpate; you choose your own level of participation:
• offer up a situation and participate in the role-play;
• offer up a situation for others to act out as you watch; or,
• just observe.

Occasionally, we assign a theme for the evening, such as using Compassionate Communication in business/work settings, or in challenging situations with loved ones, or in the realm of activism and social change. However, even on those evenings, we are always open to role-playing whatever is most present and alive for the group.

While we prefer all participants to have some knowledge of the Nonviolent Communication basics, everyone is welcome, even with no previous experience. If you are completely new to the NVC model, or would benefit from a little review, we invite you to join us a half-an-hour earlier, at 7 pm, for a brief, Introduction to NVC session. If you plan to attend, we request that you contact us by phone no later than 4 pm the day of the Conflict Improv session. Thanks.

Lori, Phil, Ritch & Scott all have extensive backgrounds in both Nonviolent Communication and Theatre Games / Role-Play.
