Tools for Peacemaking in Judaism, Christianity and Islam: How the Spiritual Traditions of the Abrahamic Family Can Help to Heal the Holy Land and the World

With Eliyahu McLean, Jiries Mansour and Ibrahim Abu El Hawa

Judaism, Christianity and Islam

These three leading religious peacebuilders from Jerusalem and the Galilee, will speak about their work to heal the separation between Arabs and Jews in the Holy Land. They are all members of the Abrahamic Reunion group of religious leaders and Jerusalem Peacemakers.

The evening will include:
• teachings from the Torah, New Testament and Quran
• study about the shared history of the faiths that can serve as a positive model for healing and unity today, and
• stories of hope from the ground of peacemaking that is not making the news.

We will close with a circle of shared prayer in Arabic and Hebrew from the heart.

The Abrahamic Reunion (AR) is a group of religious and spiritual leaders in Israel, including men and women representing Judaism, Christianity, Islam and the Druze religion who seek to restore the trust amongst Arabs and Jews through their guidance and personal example. This groups works together to demonstrate the importance of religious tolerance and interfaith cooperation in communities across the Holy Land Over the past five years, the AR has hosted large public interfaith gatherings in their home communities, helping to heal Abraham's family.

The most recent Abrahamic Reunion event was planned to help heal the wounds after the recent war in Gaza and southern Israel. Jiries Mansour, the principal of the school of Rame, Galilee, brought a group of Arab teenagers to meet with Jewish teenagers in their high school in Sha'ar HaNegev, in southern Israel, on the Gaza border. The Arab and Jewish teenagers and religious leaders shared from the heart and prayed together for a shared future of peace and harmony. This meeting was broadcast on the Israeli TV news, and was also broadcast in Gaza, giving hope on both sides of the border.
