Stop the Spray
An Evening of Information and Letter-Writing

light brown apple moth

We have won a victory! But it's not over yet! We need you to help keep the pressure on.

Plans for aerial spraying of pesticide pheromone in the Bay Area urban areas were halted June 19.
Sterile moths will be introduced to disrupt the light brown apple moth's mating pattern.

However...It's Not Over!

The State's action has not gone far enough to assure the complete safety of people, our water, food and wildlife. There are no long term studies showing that alternate methods proposed for stopping the moth have proven safe. Aerial spraying is still planned in forested areas, possibly even Mount Tam. The pesticide to be sprayed is not safe for wildlife, air, water. Thus, we are all still in danger from pesticide drift.

Additionally, the US Dept of Agriculture anticipates many more "pests" being brought to this country as a result of globalization. Aerial spraying of urban areas is off the table for now, but it may yet be proposed as a solution to new pests.

Our next battle is to help shift our world towards using more benign and natural, instead of chemical, solutions; from pesticide on our foods to encouraging growing more organic food.

Stay informed and stay active!

This FREE meeting will have an informative talk (including information on affidavits for damage claims), Q & A time, and letter writing to key people in government.

We need official, signed statements that can be sent to elected officials, governmental agencies and/or judicial bodies, voicing our disagreement with the pesticide operation.
